Formed on 20 August 1956 at a meeting in the SFA rooms in
Glasgow by six clubs, with Queen's Park playing all their games away from
home. None of the clubs
were in the Scottish Reserve League and the new league was formed to cater
for them as they felt friendly games didn't help the reserve players develop
quickly enough. The league's president was WC Hiddleston
of Third Lanark, with J Scouliar of Clyde the
vice-president Champions
