Eastern League

East of Scotland League

This early league was formed in May 1891 by, initially, six clubs based in West Lothian, Edinburgh and Fife. Broxburn Shamrock and Kirkcaldy were later admitted but Leith Hibernian, a club related to the original Hibernian club, actually disbanded before the competition started and were replaced by Adventurers. Midway through, Kirkcaldy appear to have dropped out, but the league was abandoned anyway with only three clubs completing their fixtures.
