Between 1887 and 1913, the small county
of Clackmannanshire had sufficient clubs, both Senior and Junior, to enable
it to run county-wide tournaments. It was even able to run a junior league competition
between 1896 and 1909, before its member clubs looked for stronger
competition in Stirlingshire and Fife. The Clackmannashire Charity FA was
formed in 1887 and ran the Charity Cup for senior clubs until 1896 when it
became apparent there wasn’t enough teams to warrant the tournament. At the
same time the CCFA also ran a Charity Cup for the county’s Junior sides. On
the demise of the CCFA in 1896, Alva Albion Rovers were instrumental in the
setting up of the Clackmannanshire Junior FA. This ran until 1909, when its
member clubs joined the Stirlingshire Junior FA. |
